No matter how you "do" your virtual meetings, there are some tips to help you look better. If you're like many folks, you're probably using ZOOM to connect with family, friends and for doing business. Let's look at the tools you'll need. All these devices work with Zoom and other video meeting services, like Google Meet, WebEx and Microsoft Teams. 

1. Shoot from eye level or above. Not one single soul looks good when the camera is pointing at your chin. One of the most challenging parts of this piece is not looking down at the people on your screen. You could tape a "LOOK HERE" sticky note to the top of your device to remind you to look there and not down at the screen. You don't need some fancy rig to get the height correct, you can use books, nesting products, a table top tripod, or even a taller tripod. (Yes, that's me al made up in the blog header image.)
2. Your not on the soap opera Dark Shadows. Come out of the shadows and make sure your face is well illuminated. Also check that there is no light source directly behind you. For one person, a ring light is probably good, for a group one light won't be bright enough. You could us more ring lights or bring a bunch of lamps into the room and place them strategically around to better show your lovely faces. 
3. Be wary of digital backgrounds. Have you ever seen a digital background that is really distracting? Maybe the image isn't working well with the platform or the person is being sucked into and spit back out of the background. Instead of using a digital background try putting a plant or fresh flowers behind you, sit in a corner, or sit in front of a bookshelf.
