Photographer Model Calls | Why I do them
I do model calls for people and animals in Minnesota, the Upper Midwest, and when I'm traveling to and after arriving at locations.
Why have model calls?
Boosting income is not the focus of my model calls. Don't get me wrong, some models do book sessions and purchase images and products. Do they get discounts on the sessions they book and the products they buy? Absolutely! Two and four-legged models earn points to buy products with my referral program.
The referral program is a point-earning system. The more you post on social media, the more points you earn. Refer a new client that books and purchases, and you'll earn points. If you prefer to earn money toward your shoots and products, ask about referral cards where you and your referral receive money off. To track your points, you may want to create a hashtag to follow your social posts.
Types of model calls
Dog - these calls are for dogs of all breeds and mixed breeds. These may be conformation pictures, competition, lifestyle, headshots, interacting with products, working with people, running, playing, swimming, and more.
Equestrian - these calls focus on people with horses. These shoots will focus on equestrian themes, whether casual portraits, under tack, lifestyle images, competition, racing, and more. All seats and disciplines are fair game in these calls.
Equine - these calls are for horses of all breeds and mixed breeds. These may be conformation pictures, competition, lifestyle, headshots, interacting with products, working with people, running, playing, swimming, in the pasture, and more.
Model - these calls are for people and may be for one person alone, couples, groups of people, families, and professionals. Customers are always looking for the broadest range possible for people and locations. We focus on diversity when casting - all ages, stages of life (senior, pregnancy, etc.), ethnicities, genders, and abilities.
Reasons to do model calls.
Practice - Practicing photography and videography is crucial to staying at the top of the game. I've been shooting for years, and that's how I know there is never enough practice.
Stock Images - our team creates and sells stock imagery for any project. Types: Royalty-Free Stock Photos, HD & 4K Video, Illustrations & Vectors, Backgrounds & Templates. Customers want specific images, and those don't always happen during photo sessions. I will do a model call for these. If you need stock images, get in touch! You'll also find our stock on iStock by Getty Images. Want something that isn't in the stock catalog? Let me know, and we'll create what you need.
Creativity - in addition to shooting for clients, everyone on the team shoots personal projects that often include imagination, costuming, props, smoke, glitter, and locations.
Marketing & Social Media - Catching and sustaining your audience's attention on social media is an all-out competition. Visuals are essential to a social media marketing campaign. Model calls happen for events, marketing materials, and posting on socials.
We'll help you with:
Photography education -
learn composition, lighting, and exposure to take high-quality photos! Expand Your skillset and create images you'll treasure. In-person workshops and online options are available. I do an annual three-day seminar and need models for that events. I also use models for mentor sessions, classes, video recordings for webinars, and articles. Want to learn more about photography education? Get in touch!
Styled shoots - planning a styled shoot is a great way to express creativity. The styled shoots also help network with other business owners and get some recognition for your business while practicing photography skills. These shoots need models and mentors to help explain posing, explaining light use, and shooting methods.
Website - my website always needs new images of people, places, horses, dogs, and lifestyle images. Location images are essential to show potential sites for creating beautiful photos and videos. The website includes photographs of select clothing and props available for clients to use during their shoot.
